When It’s Time for Expert Help

Planning retirement can feel like navigating through winding roads, confusing detours, and uncertain weather. Sometimes you need more than just a map—you need someone in the passenger seat who knows the way.

That’s what a financial planner is: your expert co-driver. With the Done For You (DFY) path, you’ll have a professional helping you steer through complexity, spot potential hazards, and reach your destination with greater ease and confidence.

Whether your route involves superannuation strategies, Centrelink timing, estate planning or tax savings, this is your chance to relax and let an expert take the wheel.

What a Planner Can Help With

Financial planners are licenced professionals who know the ins and outs of

  • Retirement income planning
  • Centrelink eligibility and optimisation
  • Superannuation strategy
  • Investment advice
  • Estate planning
  • Tax minimisation
  • Risk management and insurance

They’ll assess your current location, understand your destination, and build a step-by-step route tailored to you.

“A goal without a plan is just a wish.” — Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

What to Expect

The journey usually looks like this:

1 - Intro Call

You chat about where you are and where you want to go.

2 - Fact-Finding

You share your financial details—super, income, assets, debts - and answer guided questions.

3 - Strategy Session

Your planner researches your current situations and analyses your options, then considers different routes and timing to reach your goals.

4 - Written Plan

They document this in a formal Statement of Advice (SOA) and take you through their final recommendations.

5 - Implementation

Once you agree on a path, they help you put it all into action.

6 - Ongoing Support

If you choose to engage them on an ongoing basis, they will hold periodic reviews with you to check you’re still on track, and tweak your plan as needed.

Fees depend on your needs and the adviser, but most offer a free initial chat to help you get started.

How to Choose a Planner

We recommend working with a licenced, experienced planner who:

  • Specialises in the area you need most help with right now e.g.  retirement strategies for Australians over 60
  • Is listed on the Financial Advisers Register
  • Offers transparent pricing and flexible service options
