Which Health Care Card am I eligible for?
There are three different health care concession cards in Australia — and the rules for each are quite different. This calculator screens your eligibility for all three at once. Answer a few questions below and we'll tell you which cards you may qualify for.
π Before you start, have these handy
- Deemed income figure — if you have any financial assets (bank, term deposits, shares, super if you're over Age Pension age), use the Deeming Calculator first to work out your fortnightly deemed income.
- Payslips for the last 8 weeks — if you (or your partner) earn wages or self-employment income.
- Estimate of your annual other income — rental income (net of expenses), defined benefit or private pension drawdowns, foreign pensions, trust distributions, or business income.
- Adjusted Taxable Income (ATI) — from your most recent tax return / notice of assessment, if you're aged 67+ and self-funded.
Don't worry if you don't have all four — leave any boxes blank that don't apply to you.

Beyond Health Care Cards
If you're checking concession card eligibility, you might also be eligible for the Age Pension itself β or there may be ways to restructure to qualify.

Disclaimer: This calculator screens for eligibility based on Centrelink's headline rules for the Pensioner Concession Card, Low Income Health Care Card (LIHCC), and Commonwealth Seniors Health Card (CSHC). It does not check residency, Australian citizenship, or specific qualifying-payment categories — you must satisfy those separately. The LIHCC test is based on the most recent 8 weeks of household income and CSHC uses your Adjusted Taxable Income; if your income fluctuates, your actual eligibility may differ. This is general information only and does not constitute personal financial advice. Always confirm with Services Australia before relying on a result.
